Philippines law firm Gulapa Law has advised renewable energy developer ib vogt on a PHP4.5 billion (USD72 million) senior debt facility for its battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Barangay Luca, Iloilo province.

Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) is the sole lender of the facility, with RCBC Capital Corporation acting as lead arranger.

Gulapa Law served as ib vogft’s counsel, with the team comprising founding partner Aris Gulapa, partner Dan Mandocdoc, senior associate Sandra Dionaldo and junior associate Carlo Gulapa.

The project combines 99MW peak of solar photovoltaic capacity with a 4 MW/16MWh BESS, marking ib vogt’s first hybrid solar-plus-BESS development in the Visayas, one of the Philippines’ three main island groups. Once operational, it is expected to generate more than 160GWh of clean electricity annually – enough to power more than 85,000 Filipino households – and avoid more than 70,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.

Early engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) works began in early 2026, with commissioning targeted for the second quarter of 2027.
