Giant Interactive’s go private announcement is the 14th such transaction involving US-listed Chinese companies on which Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld has advised since February 2012, and one expert at the firm says expect more of the same for the near future. Greg Puff, a Hong Kong partner at Akin Gump, told China Business Law Journal that new take-private deals continue to occur in the overall strong US market, including the notable examples of Giant Interactive and Shanda Games, and many smaller companies that may go unnoticed. “They might perceive a listing closer to the centre of their operations as giving them greater access to additional capital,” he said.
