After less than nine months as a partner at FoxMandal Little, Vinay Dwarkadas has left the firm to join Mumbai-based IP boutique RK Dewan & Co.

Prior to joining FoxMandal, Dwarkadas had been a senior associate and one of the three founding members of Khaitan & Co’s IP practice in Mumbai. He told India Business Law Journal that his decision to leave FoxMandal was taken solely for personal reasons, particularly the adverse affects of New Delhi’s hot summers and cold winters on the health of his two-year-old daughter, Uloopi, who was on the verge of being hospitalized.

“I parted ways with FoxMandal Little on very good terms,” Dwarkadas said. “Som Mandal, the firm’s managing partner, understood the predicament my wife Neerja and I were in and the pain we were going through. In all fairness to him, he actually stood by us till the last minute and at times even now inquires about our daughter. He is one of the finest people I’ve ever known at heart.”
