April saw law firms announce promotions across levels to foster the next generation of leaders and reward the hard work of their lawyers. This coincides with the start of the financial year, when new budgets are announced. The following are highlights from this year’s promotions at some of India’s leading firms.


Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) inducted 23 lawyers into the firm’s partnership.

In the corporate practice, the firm inducted Ankita Ray, Anshu Choudhary, Esha Harkisandas, Kunal Savani, Pranay Bagdi, Pranjita Barman, Shaishavi Kadakia and Tanmay Patnaik in Mumbai; and Saurav Samaddar, Sharada Ramachandra, Suvojit Halder, Trayosha Darapuneni and Vinamrata Shrivastava in Bengaluru.

In the dispute resolution practice, the firm added Shalaka Patil and Vineet Unnikrishnan in Mumbai, and Vikash Kumar Jha and Sumit Attri in New Delhi.

In the finance team, Anindita Bhowmik, Meeta Kurpad, Yash Jain were added as partners in Mumbai, while in the markets team Gazal Rawal, Janhavi Seksaria and Vinay Sirohia were promoted to partners in Mumbai.

CAM also promoted 120 associates. Six were promoted to the director level, 29 lawyers to principal associate, 12 to principal associate designate, 62 to senior associate, and 11 to senior associate designate.


Khaitan & Co promoted 17 principal associates and five counsel to the firm’s partnership.

In the dispute resolution practice, Abhisaar Bairagi, Anchit Oswal, Arvind Kumar Ray and Sneha Janakiraman were promoted in the New Delhi national capital region.

In the banking and finance practice, Ahana Sinha, Rahul Chakraborti and Rolwine Alva were promoted in Mumbai, and Smita Jha became a partner in Bengaluru.

In the corporate practice, Kapish Mandhyan, Saswat Subasit and Stuti Galiya were promoted in Mumbai.

In the private equity practice, Radhika Agarwal and Tanushree Bhuwalka were promoted in Mumbai, and Nidhi Killawala in New Delhi.

The other lawyers promoted to partner were: Aayushi Anand, in the private debt and insolvency practice; Abhinav Chandan, in TMT; Deepak Kumar, in employment; Kumar Kartikeya Prakash, in venture capital; Pranjal Prateek, in competition; Soumya Mohapatra, in debt capital markets; Vidushi Gupta, in financial services; and Tarunya Krishnan in ESG and Commercial.

The firm also promoted principal associates Abhinav Rastogi, Achint Kaur, Nayantara Kutty and Ratnil Chauhan to counsel.


J Sagar Associates promoted seven lawyers to the firm’s partnership, three lawyers to of counsel, and another three to counsel.

In the corporate practice, new partners are Gaurav Arora, Kartikeya GS and Sarvesh Kumar Saluja in Gurugram. In the finance practice, Pracheta Bhattacharya and Siddhartha Desai were promoted to partner in Mumbai. Pallavi Banerjee, in the corporate and finance practice in Mumbai, and Rahul Kinra in the Disputes practice in New Delhi, were likewise promoted.

Lawyers promoted to of counsel were Megha Saraf, Pooranimaa Hariharan and Sahil Shah. The new counsel are Sunanda G, Suneethi HS and Vidhyadhare S. The firm also promoted 12 lawyers to principal associate, and 22 to senior associate.


Trilegal promoted five counsel to partnerships. The promotions were: Ankit Kejriwal, in the corporate practice and Yash Bansal in asset management and funds, in Mumbai; Gautam Chawla, in competition, and Pallav Shukla in disputes, in New Delhi; and Jyotsna Jayaram, in TMT in Bengaluru. This increases the number of partners to 63 at the firm.


DSK Legal promoted associate partners Samir Malik and Kartik Yadav in New Delhi, and Saloni Mody in Mumbai to partnership. Associate partner Ankit Jain was promoted to partner-strategic client relationships in New Delhi. The firm also promoted Nakul Batra, Mitali Naik, Jayesh Kothari, Rimali Batra and Abhishek Singh Baghel to associate partner.

With these promotions, the firm now has 21 partners and 14 associate partners.


Talwar Thakore & Associates inducted counsel Nidhi Rani in the banking practice, and Priyanka Kumar in debt capital markets, from Mumbai, into the partnership. The firm also promoted five senior associates to managing associates, and six associates to senior associates. It now has 11 partners and 59 fee earners in Mumbai and New Delhi.
