Dear Madam,
With regards to the Indian Law Firm Awards that were published in your February issue, I think it is fantastic that you have put something like this together. I can see that a serious amount of research has gone into creating and compiling the results. Some lawyers will agree with them, while others will no doubt disagree. But at least there is now an established benchmark for the entire profession to work around. This is a considerable step forward.
I was a little surprised by your choice of Khaitan & Co as Law Firm of the Year. I am certainly aware that this firm has done a great deal to build its practice in recent months and that it has recreated itself along the lines of modern international law firms. However, I would have said that it is still some way from being the top law firm in the country.
Your choice of Amarchand Mangaldas, AZB & Partners and J Sagar Associates as other “best overall law firms” is definitely correct and very welcome.
