A long-running controversy dating back to India and Pakistan’s independence appeared closer to being put to rest in April when it was announced that an out-of-court settlement would be sought in the dispute over the “treasures” of the Nizam of Hyderabad. The Indian government announced that it would negotiate an out-of-court settlement with Pakistan and the descendants of the Nizam.
