Saikrishna & Associates represented Disney Enterprises when Delhi High Court granted the entertainment giant interim injunctions against 37 websites that Disney said were enabling the downstreaming of their films and other programmes without licences.
The 27 July order also allowed Disney to take action in future against other similar rogue websites, to enable the court to dynamically monitor such online copyright infringement.
Not present in the court were the 37 websites, along with nine internet service providers (ISPs) that were ordered to block access to the websites, and the Department of Telecommunications and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, which were asked to direct ISPs in general to block access to the websites.
Saikrishna & Associates’ team of lawyers included managing partner Saikrishna Rajagopal, partners Sidharth Chopra and Sneha Jain and associates Disha Sharma, Snehima Jauhari and Surabhi Pande.
The order followed a court hearing that was held through video-conferencing on account of covid-19. Saikrishna & Associates had also represented UTV Software Communications in Delhi High Court in April 2019, when it obtained what was India’s first dynamic injunction against online piracy.
