Dentons HPRP, the Indonesian arm of the global law firm, has established a China desk to support growing investment and business opportunities between the two jurisdictions.

Partner Abraham Sylvester Harryandi will lead the desk with the support of associates Frederick Dominic, Timothy Chow and Nikita Priscila.

Managing partner Sartono said the China desk would be based at the firm’s Jakarta headquarters and “serves as a dedicated platform to support Chinese investors and businesses operating or seeking to invest in Indonesia”.

“As one of Indonesia’s most important economic partners, China continues to drive significant investment into the country, and we have seen increasing demand from Chinese businesses seeking practical legal guidance, local market knowledge, and advisers who understand both the Indonesian regulatory landscape and the nuances of cross-border business,” Sartono told Asia Business Law Journal.

“Given the continued growth of economic ties between China and Indonesia, as well as increasing investment activity in sectors such as manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, technology and natural resources, we believe this is an appropriate time to further showcase the experience and resources we have developed in this area.”

Harryandi said the China desk would focus on a wide range of practice areas that align with the legal needs commonly encountered by Chinese investors and businesses in Indonesia.

“Our primary focus includes foreign investment and market entry, corporate and commercial matters, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, regulatory and licensing matters, employment and labour issues, infrastructure and project development, energy and natural resources, manufacturing, technology, telecommunications, and dispute resolution,” he told ABLJ.
