Debevoise & Plimpton has obtained a licence to practise Hong Kong law, which enables the firm to bring clients more value-added service, said the head of its Hong Kong office.
“For our existing clients, there were times when parts of their transactions would be governed by Hong Kong law, or would have Hong Kong law aspects, and in those situations we had to bring in separate Hong Kong counsel because we couldn’t advise on those aspects of the deals,” Andrew Ostrognai, the managing partner of Debevoise & Plimpton in Hong Kong, told China Business Law Journal.
