Restructuring specialist Daniel Anderson joins Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer as a partner in Hong Kong after leaving Ropes & Gray.

Anderson led Ropes & Gray’s Asia restructuring and special situations practice as a partner for more than 11 years and headed the Hong Kong office as a managing partner from 2017-2022.

As a well-known figure in restructuring and capital solutions, Anderson’s arrival marked a significant step for Freshfields to expand its services in Asia.

Anderson regularly advises creditor groups, debtors and officeholders in restructurings, as well as assists investment funds and proprietary trading desks on their debt and equity investments in public and private companies, principally in distressed and special situations.

Freshfields Asia managing partner in Hong Kong, Thomas Ng, said Anderson brought a strong market profile, impressive creditor-side credentials, and proven execution capabilities across a broad range of restructuring and capital solutions mandates in the region.

“His hire could not be more timelier as we continue to grow our restructuring practice and private capital bench in Asia, and I have every confidence that Daniel will enrich our client offering across the region,” said Ng.
