Two Singapore-based capital markets lawyers at Baker McKenzie, principal Kenny Kwan and local principal Caryn Ng, have moved to its rival, Allen & Overy, as partners.

Kwan was at Baker McKenzie since 2019 and had worked at Allen & Overy previously from 2009 to 2017 as a partner. He specialises in M&A, capital markets transactions, funds, and general corporate matters under Singapore law. In addition to US securities law experience, he has acted as counsel for issuers and underwriters.

Ng had been a local principal at Baker McKenzie since 2021 and specialises in equity capital markets and corporate finance, with a crossover interest in the private equity space. She has represented issuers and underwriters in numerous securities listings on the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading.

Victor Ho, head of Allen & Overy’s Asia-Pacific corporate practice in Hong Kong, said the new partners significantly strengthen the firm’s corporate practice.

“Singapore has long been a popular choice, not only for corporate companies that wish to springboard internationally and into Southeast Asia but also for its growing importance as a financial services and capital markets centre,” said Ho.
