The annual Asia M&A Atlas Awards ceremony was held at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai last month. 37 awards were presented in recognition of top deals, dealmakers and law firms from India and the Asia-Pacific region.
Anand Pathak, managing partner of P&A Law Offices, received the award for India M&A Legal Counsel of the Year, while his firm, P&A Law Offices, was awarded the Indian M&A Deal of the Year for its handling of the acquisition of Satyam by Tech Mahindra. Amarchand Mangaldas won in the categories of Indian M&A Law Firm of the Year and Technology & Services Deal of the Year for its work on the same deal.
Pathak told India Business Law Journal, “The awards reflect the unique talent and ability in the firm and will drive us to attain still higher standards of quality in the legal services that we render to our clients.” AZB & Partners won awards for deals in the consumer goods & services, telecommunications and financial services categories following its work on the purchase of Cello Group by Société BIC, Etisalat’s purchase of a majority stake in Swan Tele and New York Stock Exchange Euronext’s purchase of a 5% stake in India’s Multi-Commodity Exchange.
