In November 2021, when many elephants in Bangladesh were being brutally killed, he obtained a remarkable order from the high court of Bangladesh directing the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to stop the ongoing unlawful elephant killings.
He has been recognised as one of the “Top 50 Legal Falcons” at the LexTalk World’s Global Hybrid Conference 2021 in Dubai, UAE, for his impactful contribution to the legal industry and was awarded the prestigious Lex-Falcon Award 2021.

Afzal has reviewed the draft legislation circulated by the Law Reform Commission on information technology, copyright laws, competition laws and has advised the commission on suggested amendments to the newly enacted Arbitration Act, 2001.
