Ajay Thomas has joined Arista Chambers to establish and head its New Delhi office.
Thomas was formerly the registrar and director at the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) in India and a member of the LCIA India board of directors. Prior to this, he worked as a counsel and head of the South Asia desk at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), where he spearheaded initiatives in India and South Asia.
At Arista, he will be an arbitration and litigation counsel and will seek arbitrator appointments. Thomas told India Business Law Journal that Arista had carved a niche as a highly regarded arbitration and dispute resolution firm, and that it offered “the perfect platform to utilize my experience and insight into the arbitration process gained from a decade of working with the SIAC and the LCIA”.
Thomas also holds an honorary position as the India country representative at the Asia-Pacific Forum for International Arbitration, and is the regional ambassador for India at HK45, the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre’s group for young arbitration practitioners in Asia and beyond.
