Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co has come under fire for allegedly ignoring a potential conflict of interest on recent airport deals.
The Civil Aviation Ministry in October said the law firm had offered legal advice to two companies, GMR Infrastructure and GVK Power & Infrastructure, which had led the consortia modernizing the airports in New Delhi and Mumbai. But the ministry noted that the law firm had also acted for the government in drawing up the original legal contracts and other documentation as part of the privatization of the airports in 2006.
Two senior officials, who requested anonymity, told Livemint.com that Amarchand Mangaldas had been banned from providing legal services to any bidder in the airport privatization until May 2007.
