ACC Singapore gathered new and old friends together at their inaugural Summer Party in mid-June. The party was organised with the support of the Young Lawyers’ Committee, and was held at Privé at the Asian Civilizations Museum, with a spectacular view of the Singapore River and the shophouses.

Despite the tropical downpour, the party was a full house and an evening of merriment for in-house counsel members, who happily mingled and caught up with each other alongside the official ACC 2019 sponsors.

The sponsors present were: Hogan Lovells and FTI Consulting as Gold sponsors; Allen & Gledhill and Schellenberg Wittmer as Silver; and Duane Morris & Selvam, Eversheds Harry Elias and Latham & Watkins as Bronze.

The evening ended on a high note, with murmurs by several members of karaoke being the next stop.

In other upcoming activities, the ACC Singapore Women’s Committee is holding a special cocktail evening on 24 July at Tiffany & Co, ION Orchard, sponsored by ACC and Hogan Lovells Lee & Lee.

The theme of the members-only evening is “Authenticity: how to succeed while remaining true to yourself.” Speakers Diana The Hui-ling and Chris Chan will share their experiences and discuss how to remain true to yourself without compromising success.

If you register but are unable to attend, please let Caroline at the ACC know by 19 July (Friday) at the latest.

A complimentary general cleaning service is available from Tiffany’s jewellery (limited to one piece per attendee). Attendees can pick up the same day or on a specific date, depending on the number of items to be cleaned. There may be additional costs for jewellery that cannot be cleaned in-house by Tiffany.

On 22 August, the association has teamed with Latham & Watkins to present a seminar titled “Current M&A trends and a deep dive into the locked box mechanism” at the law firm’s office at 9 Raffles Place, 42-02 Republic Plaza.

The seminar will explore current hot topics on Mergers & Acquisitions, including structuring an M&A transaction and an examination of the locked box mechanisms surrounding global M&A transactions. Farhana Sharmeen, a partner at Latham & Watkins, will speak at the event.

The association will join with Clyde & Co Clasis Singapore for a seminar titled “Managing disputes cost-effectively and with maximum impact: The top 10 things in-house counsel need to know” on 5 September at the law firm’s office, 12 Marina Boulevard, Marina Bay Financial Centre Tower 3.

This seminar will cover practical ways in which in-house counsel can add value and more effectively manage disputes (and costs), without adding significantly to their workload.

It will cover tips and issues to consider for at all stages of an arbitration, as well as advice specific to litigation. Registration for the seminar opens in July, and Sapna Jhangiani, a partner at Clyde & Co Clasis, will speak at the event.
