The survey of law firm billing rates in the October issue of India Business Law Journal made for a fascinating read and raises some interesting issues concerning alternative fee arrangements, which could perhaps be a standalone topic of focus in a future issue of India Business Law Journal. The move towards alternative fee structures is also likely to make comparisons between firms based on rates alone a more complex exercise. There are various other factors such as efficient staffing, turnaround time, expertise and industry knowledge, which contribute to a client’s ultimate legal spend on a matter.
