Aayushi Agarwal has taken up the role of general manager – head of legal at LOTS Wholesale Solutions in Gurugram. She was previously a senior legal counsel at IndiGo airlines.
Agarwal told India Business Law Journal that she was drawn to LOTS’ business model and the opportunity for growth that the organised retail sector has to offer in India. “Having discussed my role and responsibilities with Tanit Chearavanont, managing director of LOTS, I was convinced about being a part of, and contributing to, this exciting journey,” she said.
Agarwal has previously worked with L&L Partners, but this is her first time heading a legal team. “You need to step up, make decisions, manage a team, and solve problems even if they are not typical legal problems,” she said. “It is certainly exciting, but also challenging. I see my role as that of a business adviser and enabler, [more] than ‘just a lawyer’.”
LOTS, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Thailand’s Siam Makro Public Company, was established in January 2017 in India. The brand operates through three stores in New Delhi’s national capital region. The wholesaler’s business customers include retailers, hotels, restaurants, caterers, service business operators, government agencies, hospitals and education institutions.
