Dear Editor,

The article on succession planning at Indian law firms in the December 2012/January 2013 issue of India Business Law Journal was a pleasure to read.

The article deftly managed to provide multiple points of view regarding succession at law firms, from those of in-house counsel at companies to partners at law firms of various sizes.

It is interesting to note that while all agree that a succession plan is important – how important being a matter of opinion – there does not appear to be a standard industry practice that is followed by the majority of companies or law firms.
