The Thai Corporate Counsel Association (THAI-CCA) officially launched on 22 June during the inaugural GC Powerlist Thailand 2023 at Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel in Bangkok.

During the event, Thailand’s first formal corporate counsel association also announced its admission to the Asia Pacific Corporate Counsel Alliance (APCCA) as the seventh country member following India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Sri Lanka.

“Our objective is to bring together all GCs and corporate counsel based in Thailand,” said Sahachai Wibuloutai, founder and co-president of the THAI-CCA. “The THAI-CCA will not only serve as a voice for our in-house legal profession but also act as a valuable sounding board for our fellow corporate counsel working in Thailand.”

The APCCA is a non-profit organisation that allies corporate counsel associations across the Asia-Pacific region. They include the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association, the Indonesia Corporate Counsel Association, the Association of Corporate Lawyers Sri Lanka, the Malaysian Corporate Counsel Association, the Legal Management Council of Philippines and the Federation of Indian Corporate Lawyers. All of those associations are part of a global network, the In-House Counsel Worldwide.

The APCCA’s director of international relations and membership and a partner at RHTLaw Asia in Singapore, Anil Changaroth, represented the association in signing the accession agreement of membership. Wibuloutai and one of its founding members, Maprang Sombatthai, represented the THAI-CCA.

The THAI-CCA’s founding members and a representative from the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association also witnessed the signing ceremony.

Arlene Lapuz Ureta, secretary general of the APCCA in New York, said the association is looking forward to working and collaborating with the THAI-CCA to promote the professional advancement of corporate counsel in the Asia-Pacific region.

The GC Powerlist Thailand 2023 was held in partnership with the Legal 500.
