Tao Jingzhou joined US international law firm Dechert as a partner in Beijing on 1 June. Tao was previously a partner at Jones Day. He will be Dechert’s managing partner responsible for developing its Asia practice, and will be part of the firm’s international arbitration and corporate and securities practices.
Tao has over 25 years of experience advising on China-related matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring and strategic planning. In particular, he has extensive experience representing French multinational companies active in China.
He has a significant international arbitration practice, both as counsel and arbitrator. He is a member of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce and the London Court of International Arbitration.
Tao is a graduate of Peking University and the Université de Paris 1, Panthéon-Sorbonne, and is fluent in French and English as well as Mandarin. He is an author of several books in both English and French on Chinese law.
