The Singapore Corporate Counsel Association (SCCA) is holding its in-house counsel competition for law students, the SCCA Legal Eagle Challenge, again this year following last year’s inaugural success.
Last year saw more than 160 participants from five schools, and participants will again assume the role of a general counsel in a realistic simulation of their work.
This year, the participants will be asked to provide advice on employees’ usage of social media, and the implementation of a social media policy, in a world where the divide between work and personal is becoming less clear.
The competition is open to students of any private or public university or polytechnic enrolled in a law programme in Singapore as of 29 March 2021. The participants should register as a team of two to four, and appoint a team leader as the main point of contact. Registrations close on 1 June 2021.
Finalists will present before an esteemed panel of judges at Maxwell Chambers, the world’s first integrated alternative dispute resolution complex. Award winners may win prizes sponsored by LexisNexis and the valuable opportunity to have coffee chat sessions with general counsels.
All profits received for the challenge will be donated to Willing Hearts, a secular, non-affiliated charity providing meals to the elderly, chronically sick, low-income and underprivileged families, as well as migrant workers and international students stranded in Singapore during the pandemic.
