A committee appointed by Delhi High Court issued a report at the end of February suggesting ways to address the delays and the excessive backlog of pending cases at India’s patent office.
This is the second committee that has put forward proposals to improve the functioning of the patent office.
The first committee was formed in early in 2014 after Japanese company Nitto Denko filed writ petitions before Delhi High Court, complaining that the office had severely delayed the examination of its patent application.
