IndusLaw promoted Palecanda M Chinnappa as a partner in its litigation and dispute resolution practice in Bengaluru.

Chinnappa advises on disputes and laws in areas such as arbitration and conciliation, banking and finance, companies, contracts, debt recovery, employment and labour, intellectual property rights, mergers and amalgamations, transfer of property.

“It is always a pleasure to see an associate progress to a partner in the firm. More so, when that person is generally regarded as one of the nicest persons around,” said Suneeth Katarki, senior partner at IndusLaw.

Before joining the firm, Chinnappa worked at Crawford Bayley & Co.

Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co (SAM) has hired Harsh Kumar as a partner in its Delhi office. He joins from Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas where he worked for over three and a half years.

Kumar works in the general corporate practice and advises clients on M&As, and private equity/venture capital transactions. Kumar began his career with Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co, and also worked with Khaitan & Co for six years. “With his experience of around 13 years, his presence expands and strengthens our general corporate practice,” said SAM managing partner Pallavi Shroff.


The head of the litigation and disputes practice at IndusLaw, Srinivasa Raghavan, has left the firm after being appointed as a senior advocate at the High Court of Karnataka.

Raghavan has over 22 years of experience litigating complex disputes as lead counsel in addition to arbitration experience.

“It’s an absolute delight to see the progress of Raghavan from the days when we were discussing law over vadas and coffee in our college canteen … to his becoming a senior advocate now,” said senior partner Suneeth Katarki.


AZB & Partners announced the promotion of Kunal Kumbhat as a partner in its Mumbai office. Kumbhat has worked as a counsel at the firm since July 2018.

Kumbhat handles M&As, joint ventures, general corporate and private equity transactions at the firm, and specializes in the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors.

He previously worked as counsel at Trilegal, where he spent six years. Kumbhat also worked in the London office of Allen & Overy as an associate for four years.


Sidley Austin promoted Ankit Kashyap from counsel to partner in its Singapore office as part of the firm’s latest round of partner promotions across offices.

Kashyap works in the capital markets team, focusing on securities transactions, placements, public offerings and depository receipts issuances, and has been actively representing Indian clients. He joined the firm in February 2016 and previously worked at Jones Day as of counsel for five months.
