Yogesh Wadhwa, the India vice president and alliance general counsel (GC) for Renault-Nissan has moved to Dubai to take up the role of GC of Nissan for the Middle East, Egypt, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. “In my current role I have moved towards Nissan. India is not under me now,” said Wadhwa.
“Nissan India is in the process of conducting interviews and shortlisting someone as a general counsel now.”
Sharing his views on the ongoing downturn in the auto industry, Wadhwa said, “The slowdown in the economy, along with the lack of financing options for both customers and dealers, low consumer sentiments coupled with other factors like the high Goods and Services Tax (GST) have resulted in an unprecedented slowdown in the automotive industry. However, the recent announcements made by the government to revive the auto sector are a step in the right direction. We hope that the central government will consider lowering the GST rate from the current 28% to 18% on all auto components.”
During his 19-year long career Wadhwa has looked after legal affairs in India for a series of multinational companies, including General Motors, Cairn Energy and Halliburton.
