Freddy Daruwala, a qualified chartered accountant and a partner at Juris Corp, resigned from the firm on 15 February to join Nasikwala Law Office. Daruwala became an equity partner and head of Nasikwala’s tax and IP practice from 1 March.
Daruwala spent almost seven years at Juris Corp, where he was partner-in-charge of the direct tax and IP practices. Prior to this, he was an associate at Jehangir Gulabbhai Bilimoria and Daruwala, an IP firm. He has also practised as a chartered accountant.
Speaking to India Business Law Journal, Daruwala said: “For the last six to seven months, I felt that my career had stagnated because [Juris Corp] was not a firm with a focused tax practice and the excitement of a small firm with its challenges was missing.”
