Linklaters promotes India specialist


Linklaters raised 28 lawyers to partnership level in May, with 21 new partners based in London and three in Asia. Among the Asia-based partners are Kunal Thakore, a corporate/M&A specialist and a key member of the firm’s India Group. The promotions raise Linklaters’ partnership number to 540 worldwide.

Thakore has experience in a wide range of India-related transactions including joint ventures, acquisitions and disposals. Dual-qualified as a solicitor in India and England, Thakore’s recent experience includes advising the Vodafone Group on its acquisition of a controlling interest in Hutchison Essar, India’s largest inward investment to date; Vodafone Essar on its joint venture with Bharti and Idea to form Indus Towers Limited; HSBC Insurance on its joint venture with Canara Bank; and Oriental Bank of Commerce on establishing a life insurance joint venture in India. Thakore has also advised investment banks and private equity houses on their investments in Indian companies.
