Linklaters advises London-headquartered global investment firm Actis in the launch of renewable platform Nozomi Energy aimed at Japan, with a USD500 million investment plan, and its acquisition of all stakes in Hergo Japan Energy.

The cross-practice Linklaters team in Tokyo was led by corporate partner Tracy Whiriskey and energy and infrastructure partner Hirofumi Taba, with support from managing associates Jessika Colthurst and Mamoru Ikeda.

Hergo Japan Energy, which will provide seed assets for Nozomi, has a 230MW portfolio of operating and development stage onshore wind and solar projects along with a significant pipeline of early-stage projects.

Nozomi Energy is expected to target the generation of 1.1GW of onshore wind and solar power by 2027, and its funding comes from Actis’ latest energy infrastructure fund valued at USD6 billion.
