London-based corporate law firm LG advised Patni Computer Systems, a leading Indian IT services provider, on a US$200 million deal with UK mobile phone provider The Carphone Warehouse.

Patni will become a key technology partner to The Carphone Warehouse providing integrated services including consulting, systems integration, application development and maintenance through its global consultants and delivery centres in India.

Jonathan Riley, head of LG’s commerce and technology team, and Sunil Kakkad, head of its specialist India group, led the team advising Patni. In-house counsel for The Carphone Warehouse were Tim Morris (group company secretary) and Jeremy Szwider.

The deal represents LG’s second for Patni in recent months, having also advised on Patni’s acquisition of Logal Orviss International, a European telecoms consultancy.
