Outsourcing cooperation Legalwise

Canadian services provider Legalwise has begun outsourcing legal work to India on behalf of law firms seeking to lower their costs. The Toronto-based company, which has 430 lawyers in Mumbai and Pune, believes that outsourcing to India will help its clients to reduce certain costs by 60-70%.

Legalwise works with lawyers in Canada to identify projects that can be tasked to India. These include corporate and commercial services, litigation, legal research, document review and drafting, contract management, lease abstracting and due diligence.

A survey conducted by the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association in 2007 found that keeping costs down was the second highest priority – after keeping up with the volume of work – for Canadian lawyers.
