Legal firms step up the game with scores of promotions

Multiple firms have announced the advancement of talent among their various practice groups during April when annual promotions are made for the new fiscal year.

Khaitan & Co promoted 11 new partners and 12 counsel with a view to engage expertise. The 23 appointments now take the total number of partners to 239 across India and Singapore.

The promotions include Ashutosh Sharma and Shreya Mukherji from Mumbai and Srikant CV from Delhi NCR in the corporate law department; Abhinav Rastogi under employment benefits and labour; Jyoti Sinha and Pranav Sampat for dispute resolution in Mumbai; Amit Wadhwani for real estate; Devi Prasad Patel for capital markets in NCR; Omkar for indirect tax; Vaibhav Mittal for regulatory in Mumbai and Tamarra Sequiera for dispute resolution in Bengaluru as partners.

Abir Sarkar (corporate, Mumbai), Aman Yagnik (corporate, Mumbai), Jimmy Bhatt (direct tax, Mumbai), Kevin Peter (corporate, NCR), Mohit Kishore (banking and finance), Nimisha Trehan (corporate, NCR), Pavi Jain (corporate, NCR), Shreya Dua (corporate, Mumbai), Shrey Agarwal (corporate, NCR), Sushrut Biswal (corporate, NCR), Swarup Sil (real estate, Kolkata) and Wamika Trehan (dispute resolution, NCR) have been appointed as counsel.

DSK Legal has announced seven appointments promoting associate partners Abhishek Singh Baghel and Nakul Batra in New Delhi, and Jayesh Kothari and Mitali Naik in Mumbai as partners, and principal associates Akanksha Tiwary and Prachi Garg in Mumbai and Prachi Gupta in New Delhi as associate partners.

Trilegal has announced the promotion of six counsel to partnership – Albin George Thomas for capital markets, Ananya Sonthalia for asset management and funds, Chitra Rentala for dispute resolution and arbitration, Komal Dani for tax, and Siddharth Dang for corporate in Mumbai, and Riyaz Bhagat for projects in New Delhi.

IC Universal Legal also has promoted lawyers at various levels of the hierarchy. Akash Mukherjee and Sambhav Ranka have been promoted to senior partner in Bengaluru and Mumbai, respectively. Anita Jain, Kanishka Bajpai and Sanchit Kapoor from Mumbai, Anu D’rose and Shreya Deora from Chennai and Sneha Goenka, Suman K Suresh and Umesh R from Bengaluru have been promoted as partners.

TT&A promoted competition lawyer Dinoo Muthappa and corporate M&A lawyer Harshit Chandra in New Delhi and corporate M&A lawyer Pratika Shankar in Mumbai as partners. With these promotions and the relocation of the new team under partner Gautam Saha to New Delhi, TT&A now has 25 partners. Saha is a former senior partner at AZB & Partners who brought 11 partners along with him to TT&A last year.

P&A Law Offices has appointed Anubhuti Mishra and Arvind Thapliyal, Devna Arora and Evneet Uppal in New Delhi and Supreme Waskar in Mumbai as partners. Rajat Moudgil and Ramya Raman in New Delhi are now associate partners.

IndusLaw has inducted six lawyers into their equity partnership: Abhiroop Lahiri (New Delhi & NCR), Manshoor Nazki (Benglauru) and Ravi Dubey (Mumbai) for capital markets; Palecanda M Chinnappa (Bengaluru) and Sushmita Gandhi (Mumbai) for disputes; and Rashi Saraf for transactions (Bengaluru).

The firm has also promoted the following as partners: Anantha Krishnan Iyer (Bengaluru), Ashish Ahluwalia and Shweta Gupta (both in New Delhi & NCR) for transactions; Priyadarshini Rao (Mumbai) and Puneet Passi (New Delhi & NCR) for capital markets; and Pritha Chatterjee (New Delhi & NCR) for banking and finance.
