Malaysian firm LAW Partnership has strengthened its white-collar crime and corporate investigations group with the addition of Ariff Firman as a partner in Kuala Lumpur, as well as former judge Fredrick Nicholas as a counsel.

Firman, a white-collar investigator, joined from Shahrul Hamidi & Haziq, where he was a partner for almost two years in Kuala Lumpur. He has extensive experience dealing with legal and regulatory compliance matters and white-collar crimes.

Previously, he was a deputy public prosecutor in the Prosecution Division (Commercial Crimes Unit) of the Attorney-General’s Chambers in Putrajaya, and a legal counsel at the central bank, Bank Negara Malaysia, where he played a key role in prosecuting financial and white-collar crimes.

Nicholas is proficient in employment matters and was most recently a judicial commissioner at the High Court of Malaya at Johor Bahru, where he served from 2019 until his retirement two years ago. He was also the head of the prosecution unit in Malacca, chairman of the Industrial Court of Malaysia and a high court judge in the civil division in the Republic of Fiji.
