US law firm King & Spalding is opening an office in Singapore this month. The office will serve as the firm’s regional hub for international arbitration and energy work.
Philip Weems, the head of King & Spalding’s global energy practice, will manage the new office. An expert on liquefied natural gas (LNG), Weems has considerable experience in Asia. He previously served as the managing partner of King & Spalding’s Dubai, Riyadh and Abu Dhabi offices.
“Establishing an office in Singapore … will give us a geographically advantageous base as we continue to expand our global practices in such areas as Islamic finance, real estate and private equity … and for the further development of our work in India,” said Weems.
