Khaitan & Co has hired former Clifford Chance lawyer Devidas Banerji as a partner in its banking and finance practice in Mumbai. Banerji is dual qualified and licensed to practice both in India and England and Wales.
Banerji had previously been a senior associate in Clifford Chance’s banking and finance team, where he worked on acquisitions, leveraged financings and banking transactions in Asia. He had been based in the firm’s London and Singapore offices.
This is not the first time that Khaitan & Co has looked to international firms to satisfy its recruitment needs. In 2008 it hired Murali Neelakantan and Kalpana Unadkat from Ashurst. Neelakantan had been the head of the UK firm’s India group.
