K Venkata Ramana and Kamal Aggarwal have been inducted as partner and senior adviser to boost Singhania & Co’s corporate and indirect tax practice respectively.
Ramana is a qualified insolvency professional and independent director and will be based out of the firm’s Mumbai office.
Commenting on Ramana’s new role, the firm’s co-managing partner Rohit Jain said, “The firm is quite active in the African markets and Venkata believes that his rich hands-on experience of the African market during his stint with Airtel will help the firm to provide more practical solutions to clients in such markets and act as an advantage differentiator in favour of the firm.”
With a career spanning three decades, Ramana has most recently worked as group vice-president (legal) and group company secretary at Cummins India, and adviser (legal & secretarial) at Blue Star. He also previously worked at Sun Pharma, DLF, Future Retail and Bharti Airtel International.
Ramana has experience in advising on various aspects of business contracts management, litigation management, legal compliances, M&A, insolvency and bankruptcy laws, etc.
Aggarwal has a 30-year career and has been advising on indirect tax issues in investment transactions, litigations, M&A, and due diligence in addition to matters related to foreign trade policy, customs duty and GST, etc. He has worked with PwC, Deloitte, KPMG and EY in the past.
Singhania’s other managing partner Pradeep Kumar Jain said, “In the last 12 months, the firm has successfully added three new practice areas (criminal litigation, private client practice, tax advisory & litigation) and opened a new office at Ahmedabad. The addition of K Venkata and Kamal is another step towards the growth target of the firm.”
