The Indonesian government just passed Government Regulation No. 56 of 2021 regarding Royalty Management of Copyrights of Songs and/or Music, which came into force on 31 March. One of the articles states the obligation of cafes, cinemas and other commercial businesses to pay royalties. ZICO Law reported that this regulation was enacted to provide protection and legal certainty for creators, copyright holders and rights owners to the economic rights of songs.
