India Law Services has bolstered its presence in the south of India by opening an office in Bangalore on 1 September. This is the firm’s second office in the south – the first was set up in Chennai in 2005.
The Bangalore office is being managed by Vijay Kumar. Kumar was hired from the State Bank of India’s legal cell in Mumbai shortly before India Law Services opened in Bangalore. The firm’s decision to establish the office was based on the perception that there was great potential for its project finance and banking and finance practices to succeed in the city’s legal market.
“With many projects on the anvil in the southern region we should have a reasonable chance of making good impact,” Tushar Desai, a partner at India Law Services, told India Business Law Journal. “Going forward, however, we do intend to diversify into corporate advisory and other fields,” he said.
