HKIAC appoints 3 new council members

Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre appoints 3 new council members, 香港国际仲裁中心委任三名新理事

Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) has announced Im Byung-woo, Maria Tan Pedersen and Thomas Walsh as new members of its council upon the recommendation of the nominations committee.

The three join the HKIAC’s principal governing body, which is responsible for corporate governance and overall management.

“We are delighted to welcome Im, Pedersen and Walsh to the council, each with valuable and diverse experience in sectors and jurisdictions relevant to HKIAC’s work,” said HKIAC co-chair David Rivkin.

Im is a senior arbitration partner at Kim & Chang in Seoul, with extensive experience in international commercial arbitration cases. Pedersen is a transactional partner at Dechert in Singapore, with a practice focused on international and domestic corporate M&A, joint ventures, projects, capital markets and financing transactions. Both were appointed in October.

Walsh is a partner at Clifford Chance in Hong Kong specialising in private equity and fund-related disputes, as well as the energy and aviation sectors. He was appointed in September.

With the new additions, the HKIAC council has 24 members who are practitioners, in-house counsel, academics, arbitrators, judges and non-legal professionals.
