Air India plans to strictly enforce its weight limits, not only on luggage but also on its own flight attendants with the backing of a court order. In June, the Delhi High Court ruled that air stewards can be told that they are too fat to fly.
Judges dismissed a case filed by five female employees of the state-owned carrier for breaching its weight limit.
The court agreed with Air India’s argument that overweight air crew made for bad business and, in a surprising explanation, agreed that an employee’s physique may be deemed an integral part of their personality, the Times reported.
