French food flavouring company Aromatech has sealed a China partnership with the announcement of a joint venture with Apple Flavor & Flagrance in Shanghai.
Founded in 1987, Aromatech has a strong international presence, with Algeria, Tunisia, Turkey, the US, Thailand and China accounting for over half of its sales. Its Chinese partner, Apple, has operations in eight Chinese cities.
The joint venture, Shanghai Apple Aromatech Flavors Technology, represents further international expansion for Aromatech. It will invest heavily in research and development. Flavours developed by the JV will be marketed in China.
The Shanghai office of French law firm Aklea advised Aromatech on all legal aspects of the joint venture, including the incorporation of the company, contractual negotiations, cross-cultural issues and administrative regulations. The team was led by partner François Perruchot-Triboulet, assisted by senior associate Bastien Trelcat and associates Wang Gan and David Li.
