The China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) established its investment dispute resolution centre in 2011, focusing on providing investment dispute resolution services. The centre, headquartered in Beijing, has six branch offices in Shenzhen, Shanghai, Chongqing, Jiangsu, Shandong and Hubei.
The Cross-Strait Investment Protection and Promotion Agreement (IPA), effective as from 1 February 2013, sets out a mechanism for investment dispute resolution based on which CIETAC may in the future provide more comprehensive legal services for cross-strait investment disputes.
