Offshore law firm Carey Olsen announced the appointment of James Webb as a finance and corporate partner in its Hong Kong office.
Webb, who specialises in Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands (BVI) law, advises on debt transactions including acquisition finance, leveraged finance, project finance, real estate finance, fund finance, margin lending, structured finance, bond issuances, general lending, distressed debt, security enforcements, work-outs and debt restructurings.
He acts on corporate transactions including all downstream private equity deals, investments, M&A, joint ventures and shareholder arrangements and corporate restructurings.
“I am delighted to join Carey Olsen and to help grow its brand and the finance and corporate practice in Hong Kong,” said Webb. “The firm has a reputation for commitment to excellence and there are exciting plans for us to expand our capabilities in Hong Kong and the region in the near future.”
Webb was formerly a partner in the Hong Kong office of Walkers. He previously lived and worked in the Cayman Islands and BVI for nearly five years. Webb started his career with Allen & Overy, working in their London and Singapore offices.
Channel Islands-based Carey Olsen’s Hong Kong office also hired former Walker partner Michael Padarin as a corporate partner in June this year.
