A legal expert involved in the Chinese acquisition of an English Premier League team has warned investors to pay attention to the peculiarities of the football industry.
Sha Jun, a partner at King & Wood Mallesons in Guangzhou who advised a large consortium of Chinese investors on its acquisition of West Bromwich Albion, told China Business Law Journal that investors should focus on the special local legal and regulatory requirements on football.
Prospective buyers should take legal, cultural and political factors into consideration, and also pay attention to foreign exchange regulations for overseas acquisitions, he added.
