The Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) has appointed new members of the board of directors and the court of arbitration.

Cyril Shroff, managing partner of Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, is now a director to the SIAC board. His appointment was made under chairman Davinder Singh, SC, an expert at the helm of the SIAC’s leadership structure.

SIAC president Lucy Reed has incorporated two new members to its court of arbitration Chan Hock Keng from WongPartnership in Singapore and Vijayendra Pratap Singh of AZB & Partners in India.

Pratap Singh said, “It is an honour to be appointed to the SIAC Court of Arbitration. It is a great opportunity given the upcoming SIAC Rules revision, which will customise globally acceptable solutions for the emerging issues in arbitration.”

“In my short stint, I have also had the privilege of acting on behalf of the SIAC before the Supreme Court of India, on the reconsideration of the NN Global judgment (on the stamping of arbitration agreements). The representation was not just an honour but also gave an insight into the SIAC’s commitment to assisting with the development of Indian arbitration law,” he added.
