Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co (SAM) provided legal advisory services in the funding and registration of Go Digit Life Insurance.
SAM advised Oben Ventures (OVL) on establishing Go Digit Life and further structuring its investment in the company. Partners Shailaja Lall and Anu Susan Abraham led SAM’s transaction team with support from principal associate Arush Upmanyu, senior associate Anupam Choudhary and associate Neeti Amin.
Partner Ashish Teni, with the assistance of principal associate Uday Opal, advised on the application for registration under the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) regulations.
Go Digit Life obtained its certificate of registration from the IRDAI in early June, allowing it to conduct life insurance business in India. This registration brings the total number of life insurance companies in India to 26.
OVL, supported by Kamesh Goyal, is a promoter of Go Digit Life and one of the early companies to secure registration as an insurer under the recently issued IRDAI (Registration of Indian Insurance Companies) Regulations, 2022.
