Korean law firm Yoon & Yang has strengthened cross-border capacity, hiring Jason Lee and Hong Song Feng from Kim & Chang and Bae Kim & Lee, respectively, as well as former general counsel Ro Sung Jin.

The trio joined Yoon & Yang as senior foreign attorneys, bringing a raft of legal expertise including M&A, international business management and corporate.

“As the world continues to emerge from the covid-19 pandemic, we expect that advisory work on cross-border matters will dramatically increase in the coming years,” said Jeong Jinsu, Yoon & Yang’s managing partner. “With the newest members of the Yoon & Yang family, we are looking forward to continuing to strengthen our capacities and to seek to provide the best legal services to domestic and foreign clients.”

An expert in M&A, Lee joined from Kim & Chang, where he was a foreign attorney for 10 years. As a US-qualified lawyer, he advises companies on international trade and customs matters in addition to representing multinational companies in various M&A transactions, including outbound and inbound investments and joint ventures. Most notably, he advised Allianz on the sale of its Korean business to the Chinese insurance company, Anbang Group, in 2017.

A China-qualified lawyer, Hong was most previously a foreign attorney at Bae Kim & Lee for 15 years.

He is an expert in corporate law, international arbitration and China-related legal matters and has represented Korean and Chinese clients across a broad spectrum of international arbitrations. Hong also advises domestic enterprises and multinational corporations in their inbound and outbound transactions, as well as Chinese companies on their investments in Korea.

Ro joined from Versum Materials, an American global material manufacturer for semiconductor and display industries, where he was a general counsel for six years in Seoul.

He is experienced in technology-driven industries and comprehensively supervised legal affairs, including labour management, post-merger integration and foreign direct investments. With his hands-on experience as in-house counsel, Ro will help the firm provide quality service to clients by utilising his perspectives.
