JunHe has appointed Leon Liu and Carol Sun as partners in Shanghai.
Previously, both were partners at Yuanda China Law Firm specialising in government enforcement and cross-border regulatory compliance. Liu was also a co-founder of Yuanda.
Liu, who was a prosecutor in Nantong, Jiangsu province, has nearly 20 years of experience in anti-bribery, cross-border compliance investigation and white-collar crimes. He is especially focused on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and has represented one-third of the top 50 high-profile FCPA cases to help clients deal with investigations by the US Department of Justice, the US Securities and Exchange Commission and Chinese government agencies. Liu leads a team of compliance professionals who can handle matters in multiple jurisdictions.
Sun has extensive experience advising on information protection and data security, in particular cross-border data transfers, personal information protection, and emergency response to data breaches. She can handle global data protection projects in line with regulations in different jurisdictions, such as the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation, the state privacy laws in the US, and the data protection requirements of Southeast Asian countries. Sun was the head of the compliance and risk control team at Dentons.
