After three years at investment firm, Värde Partners, as a managing director and general counsel in Singapore, Tarun Warriar joined Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld as a partner in its special situations and private credit team in Hong Kong.
Warriar is experienced in special situation investments, restructurings and contentious matters in private and public markets. He also assists with legal and commercial matters in the asset management industry, including investment fund matters, derivatives and issues relating to portfolio companies.
In Hong Kong, he will work with Akin’s global team to advise clients on special situation strategies.
At Värde Partners, he was responsible for legal matters related to the firm’s investment activities in the Asia-Pacific. Prior to that, he was a partner in the restructuring and special situations team at Kirkland & Ellis in Hong Kong for two years, where he advised on restructurings across the region, with a focus on transactions in India.
