Norton Rose is blazing a trail with law firm acquisitions in pursuit of global expansion. In June it absorbed Canadian firm Ogilvy Renault and South African firm Deneys Reitz, creating one of the 10 largest legal practices in the world with over 2,600 lawyers across 39 offices. Macleod Dixon will join its fold on 1 January 2012.

Macleod Dixon has over 250 professionals in seven offices in Canada, Latin America, Russia and Kazakhstan. Its key practice areas are business law, commercial real estate, energy and resources, litigation, mining, securities, tax and technology.

With Macleod Dixon, Norton Rose will be one of the five largest international legal practices, with approximately 2,900 lawyers in 43 offices throughout Europe, Asia Pacific, Canada, Africa, Central Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.
