Japanese firm Nishimura & Asahi through its Singaporean arm has established a strategic alliance with Malaysian counterpart, WM Leong & Co, to strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia.
The new alliance would allow Nishimura & Asahi (Singapore) to access a wide range of legal services in Malaysia.
Managing partner Leong Wan May, who founded WM Leong & Co in late 2022, specialises in M&A and corporate commercial matters.
She has been a partner and registered foreign counsel at Nishimura & Asahi (Singapore) since 2018, and is experienced in handling Malaysian deals for Japanese and multinational companies.
In the new association, Leong will work closely with the Singapore team led by partner Daisuke Maeshiro, who has been based in the island state since 2014 and has handled multiple cross-border Malaysian deals.
Maeshiro also has broad experience advising on projects across Southeast Asia, including in Indonesia and the Philippines.
